Review on πŸ’» Enhance Office Comfort with ViewSonic VG939SM Ergonomic Monitor - 1280X1024P, 60Hz, Blue Light Filter, IPS Technology by Sam Locklear

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice monitor in my review.

It replaced the 2007 19-inch Viewsonic, which I was very happy with, but I wanted a larger size that could display two browser screens side-by-side that I can easily see from two feet away. This 24-inch Viewsonic does the job perfectly. I'm running this on a Windows 8 computer and the picture is nice and pristine. The monitor arrived well packaged, I took it out of the box, plugged in the VGA cable that was still connected to the computer from the old monitor, plugged in the power cord, set the resolution to 1920x1080 and it was ready to go. No color, tint, contrast, or other adjustments were required. A CD for installing the Viewsonic driver and an application for controlling the Viewsonic monitor were included. It didn't have drivers for Win 8 and I didn't bother downloading them from their website because the drivers and control app that came with Win 8 worked fine for me. The computer is a Lenovo Intel I5 with an Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel application that easily handles the monitor settings. There are decent quality speakers built into the monitor, but I don't use sound on this unit and would be just as happy if there were no speakers. The monitor is fully adjustable for tilt, height, pan and swivel. That was very important to me, and many comparably priced competing devices don't offer that. This monitor is exactly 22 inches wide and 17.75 inches high from the bottom of the base at the minimum height setting. I also like the fact that it comes with a Viewsonic three-year warranty. I've been using this monitor for three days now and am very happy with it and glad I didn't have to fiddle with anything to set it up. 2/4/13 I got these additional comments after my initial review. I've tried the adjustment buttons on the bottom right in front of the monitor and they all work correctly. There is an input select option that allows you to switch between inputs on VGA, DVI or Displayport. One minor thing missing from this unit is the two cable holders that my other two Viewsonics have. These are the holders that tie the cables together and route them along the back of the vertical part of the stand. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to include them.

Pros
  • I bought a refurbished one, love it. Highly recommended
Cons
  • The video portion of the monitor is great, but the speaker volume is barely audible.
