Normal quality, you can use it.

I have been using Apple products since the iPhone 4s, so the entire "Apple ecosystem" as a whole is very convenient: a bunch of iOS and MacOS, transferring music via AirPlay, etc.
Now (in February 2022) the price of 8 plus has decreased, but it's not even about money. If you don't have any other Apple products, then in view of the use case described above, I recommend looking at Android phones with an IPS screen, a normal vibrating alert, a universal 3.5-inch headphone jack and a convenient menu.

Pros

Usage scenario: a little calls, instant messengers, I also read a lot from the phone, and here, in my opinion, the iPhone 8 plus screen is one of the best (IPS-matrix and 401 ppi resolution). On the usual figure eight in small fonts, especially in italics, there is already a noticeable slight graininess (resolution 326 ppi). I immediately discarded the new xs and xsMax models, since their AMOLED screen uses PWM (it starts to flicker at low brightness, which is critical for me - I read mostly in the evening in semi-darkness). XR is also not an option for me: although it has an IPS matrix, compared to 8 plus, the screen resolution is lower (326 ppi) and the screen is narrower, which is inconvenient for reading. The speed of opening programs (iBooks, instant messengers) is good for 8 plus in comparison with the iPhone 6 plus (which was given an ate to the 10th version of iOS and got a brake device, it’s good that it didn’t ate further). The current firmware on 8 plus is 11.3.1, a tvOS profile from Apple is installed, which protects the phone from further ates and guarantees that the performance will be maintained in the future (after the artificial slowdown of phones, I no longer play ates with Apple). I think that now iPhones should be left on the original generation of firmware, if you want to have the original (maximum) performance. The battery lasts for a couple of days, the camera suited me even for 6 plus. TouchID works faster than FaceID, and from any position of the phone. Cool design (although someone will consider it morally obsolete, but I buy a phone for myself, and not to show it to others), high build quality. No crashes / reboots, but this is already the norm for any smartphone, I think.

Cons

If you don’t have other elements of the Apple ecosystem (computers, speakers, watches, etc.), then I don’t see the point in buying the iPhone 8 plus because of the following shortcomings that many competitors lack: 1. The lack of a 3.5 headphone jack - Apple's greed has crossed all boundaries. Now I have to keep 2 pairs of headphones nearby on the table - one for the computer, one for the phone. 2. Absence of a normal vibrating alert. The fact is that Apple, starting with the 6s models, replaced the usual electric motor with an eccentric with a Taptic Engine (an electromagnet with a moving winding, in simple terms). As a result, the phone vibrates normally only if it is placed vertically on the table on the long side. In a horizontal position on the table, the vibration of 8 plus is barely noticeable: in the office, I repeatedly missed calls on vibration mode, while the phone was lying 20 cm from my hand. Try it yourself - it will be clearer what I mean. Vibration is also worse in the pocket compared to the iPhone 5 and 6 plus. At the same time, the new vibration actuator is much larger and heavier (the curious can see the details on YouTube), and the phone now weighs more than 200 grams! I did not understand Apple's logic in this case. 3. Inconvenient operating system in the latest versions! Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can no longer be turned off on the menu leaving the bottom! To do this, you need to climb into the settings! On any cheap Android, this is done much more conveniently. 4. Strange as it may sound: poor system optimization: when scrolling through the settings menu, notes, there are small jams (freezes), although infrequently. I agree that this is not critical, but this was not the case at all on 4s, sometimes I even regret that I sold it - I had to leave it for history, otherwise it will be difficult to prove later that early iPhones worked faster. The application for Amazon on 8 plus also slows down when scrolling, although after lagging native menus it somehow even looks logical.
