LOVE IT ! HERBS!; 3-ply filling tube and pusher; was discontinued by Cuisinart

Just used this blender for the first time. I made a 1/3 cup garlic herb dressing that turned out fantastic. After watching a few videos of this blender, I fixed the lid, fired the blade, and tossed and processed first a clove of garlic, then 1 teaspoon of fresh parsley, and then 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves through a small serving tube. I then drizzled with lemon juice and then olive oil through a small masher. Like my old blenders, Cuisinart sent garlic, parsley, and thyme leaves to the side of the bowl. But here's the big difference, he processed them in a snap first! The lemon juice and olive oil were mostly at the bottom of the bowl, so I don't know yet if using a blender helped with that. But all in all, it was the best bandage of this type I've ever done at home. The thyme flavor was intense. I really don't know how to achieve this flavor with handmade thyme leaves. I have an immersion blender and one of the reasons I chose this 7 cup model was to grind herbs. And this little blender did the job perfectly. It's really fast. This then helped me to finally understand that the wide feed pusher and the tube together are a three-layer construction. The feed pusher encloses the feed tube on the outside and inside. So when you press the long tabs on the outside of the thrust tube assembly, the outer layer and inner layer are removed, leaving the middle layer and cap. It took me a while to get this. Now that I understand, this design is very impressive. I also found the trigger to be very easy to clean, especially with the spray option on my kitchen faucet. Third, it's interesting to note that Cuisinart has discontinued this model. So I'm glad I bought it then. Reviews indicate that the Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14 Cup Stand Mixer is one of the best stand mixers. However, I live alone and cook for one, I don't need 14 cups, I have a small kitchen, I only have to process a few herbs and I don't have an unlimited kitchen budget. So I thought I'd try this 7 cup version and I'm very happy. Consider a small bowl (1 1/2 cups) for mixing soup etc if you don't have another mixing method. So I am thrilled with this 7 cup food processor. Exactly what I needed. You will find that the discs are really strong. This was my first time at Cuisinart. Please listen to the feedback and use the impulse first. You won't believe how fast it goes. I'm glad I started with herbs that I basically wanted to chop. This is my third stand mixer, my first Cuisinart and by far the best.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
