Thoughtfully designed monitor stand - stunning, secure but productive

All reviews and specs tend to revolve around pixels, connection types, resolution and all that good stuff. But what if you can't position your monitor to be comfortable *and* productive? It's more than the technology under the covers that excels here. The monitor stand can be tilted up, down and sideways. Right now, for testing with ChromeOS, it's mounted on a heatsink tilted down and to the left so it can be viewed on the right while verifying on another computer. NOTE. The OSD menu will not appear if you do not have a valid connection. In the first test with an Acer AllInOne with HDMI output, there was no connection and the OSD menu did not start. ViewSonic responded within 4 business hours with the tip you just sent. In both cases there are no additional costs. The settings that worked best for our environment were less bright and higher contrast than the factory settings. These adjustments were easy to make, although unless you have the manual in front of you there are no physical labels associated with the buttons on the back of the monitor - this resulted in many incorrect button presses when there was no connection to the Acer AIO. Connecting to an HP Specter laptop and Samsung ChromeOS was straightforward (ChromeOS dual monitor prompt - search + ALT + M), but there was no complicated setup for HDMI. Tested with Silicon Dust HDHomeRun in HD and the picture was great. Of course, your mileage will vary, especially if you're a graphic designer; When choosing a monitor, taste is very important. Contrast and brightness settings are well adjusted and effective in the lighting conditions we tested. "DisplayPort and old-fashioned "VGA" are other options for traditional cables. There are also USB options that we haven't tested. Also not tested on Apple devices. We didn't check for missing pixels. If it's not very noticeable, don't worry. There is no separate power supply, which is very convenient. The power cord came in neatly from the bottom, as did the signal cables, which pointed up for easier cable routing (although it's not that easy to connect; you may need a flashlight pen). This is an improvement over several previous Viewsonic monitors we own (which are still operational). Not specific to this device: this size is probably close to the maximum size for a typical dual-monitor desktop. We've tried several 32-inch monitors and traditional desk sizes just can't do. However, there is a subjective element here. However, 32 inches is probably the minimum for a hotel room. With the exception of Scottsdale Princess et al. (It's cold where this review is written.) MINUS It may have been left out of the package but we had to download the manual. Even the manual didn't mention the requirement of a valid input signal to start the OSD. We may have overlooked this too. You will also need an HDMI cable if your interface requires it. TIP The manual indicates that the device consumes some power even when it is switched off.

Pros
  • CURVED DESIGN: The modern, ultra-wide curved screen immerses you in a stunning panoramic image with a 21:9 aspect ratio, vivid colors and incredible detail.
Cons
  • Bad built-in speakers.
