I have never used a product like this before but decided to try the protein powder because I went to the gym (May 2021 ) and followed a program that required many grams of protein throughout the day. I chose this product because I'm not very good with dairy and I figured the hydrolyzed version would probably be the best for me. I ended up drinking this daily for a month, a few times a day before the gym, before finally losing interest in the gym. About a month after that (July 2021) my hair started falling out in large numbers and my tub was full of hair, I really thought I was sick. This had never happened to me before, so I was very scared and confused. This went on for several weeks until I noticed I had a large, thin patch on my head. I've never experienced hair loss like this before and no one has ever mentioned to me that my hair is thinning and I haven't noticed it myself until now. I did a little research and found that whey protein isolate in particular has higher levels of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) than regular whey protein. When BCAAs are broken down, they are converted into dehydroxytestosterone (DHT), which is known to cause hair loss and baldness. So again I am almost 100% sure that this is the reason for the sudden hair loss and thinning and I just want to warn as many people as possible not to use this product. Use regular whey or plant-based protein, or even bone broth. Now I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to reverse this. I'm 25 and a bald head looks ugly at that age. I've been researching this and biotin (vitamin B7) supplements and biotin shampoo seem like good options that can help block or reduce the effects of DHT so I just ordered both plus some rice water conditioner and natural skin oils . I hope this can undo the damage done and I also hope this review gives others an idea of what to do if this happens to them too. Please stay away from this product!
