An old wired (with 9v backup) First Alert carbon monoxide detector installed 7 years ago gave me a 5 chirp to replace the unit. This alarm uses the exact same bracket and wire connector as the manufacturer's last. TURN OFF THE POWER FIRST. Then turn the device and it will immediately pop out of the mount. If you're lazy, use a screwdriver to pull the old wiring connector out of the old carbon monoxide alarm box. And connect it directly to the new block. Plug in the cables and twist them into the old bracket. You may have to push and twist VERY HARD to get there. Turn on the power. Remove the foil from the battery. Click the button to verify. And you have enough for another 7 years.
