Our Church of the Good Shepherd in Vancouver, Washington has been closed for worship for the past 18 months while the past two years have included expansion and renovations. To celebrate their reopening, we held a special service, after which we went to the parking lot in front of the main entrance to cut the ribbon. Release of 21 pigeons (actually white homing pigeons) and a bagpipe serenade from "Amazing Grace". The banner hung from a rope stretched between the pillars you see in the picture. The banner has drawstrings at each corner, but you wouldn't want to trust them for long as they're only lightly attached and look like they could be blown away by the slightest gust of wind.
