Review on Ion Tape Express Plus: Cassette Player and USB Converter – Preserve and Digitize Your Tapes! by Shahed Cleveland

DO NOT buy this device! A few months ago I bought an ION turntable to convert all my old vinyl albums to MP3 files. It was fantastic and worked great! So I figured this ION product would be just as good for cassettes. NOT CORRECT! I have never been more disappointed in a product than this piece of junk. I put in my first tape and hit the record button on my computer. The tape speed was NOT constant, causing the music to modulate between several different keys, oscillating up and down every few seconds. If you know anything about music (I'm actually a musician and a music teacher) you know this is unacceptable. At first I thought it might just be a bad cartridge, but after trying a few different cartridges it became clear that this was indeed the machine. In fact, I had to find an old tape recorder in the basement and plug it into the ION player's Aux port to stream music from cassette tapes through the player to my computer. Luckily it worked because I really didn't have the time to finish the project with those old cassettes. So now my ION cassette adapter is in the trash and you still need to do some research to find the best product because that's NOT HIM!
