How come this excellent four thirds micro ultra wide lens doesn't have any reviews? I'm not a professional photographer, but I cannot stand by and watch this lens not get the recognition it deserves. Firstly, the ultra wide angle lens is very useful. The difference between 7mm and 14mm is huge. The wide field of view of 7mm allows you to capture stunning landscape shots. With a thickness of 7 mm, mountains become boulders, and boulders become small stones. More importantly, the ultra-wide angle allows you to capture close-up shots while maintaining their relationship with surrounding objects. And best of all, the ultra-wide angle allows you to shoot in tight spaces that would simply not be possible with any other lens. At 9mm you can sit in the corner of a room and photograph the entire room! When shooting movies, you can zoom out from 14mm to 7mm for a dramatic effect unmatched by any other lens. Second, it's an excellent choice among all ultra-wide-angle lenses. slrgear and dpreview have tested it and found that it offers excellent image quality. It's perfect for the Panasonic G1/GH1/GF1 and Olympus E-P1 as it's the only ultra wide-angle micro four-thirds lens available that auto-focuses and exposes during video. Autofocus and autoexposure are so quiet under normal conditions that I can't hear them. Autofocus hunting is minimal. As of firmware version 1.1 (dated 11/25/2009), this lens officially supports auto focus in 1080p24 FHD movies. It's incredibly light (just 300 grams) compared to similar lenses in other formats. The next smallest ultra-wide-angle zoom is the otherwise superb Olympus Zuiko 7-14mm f/4.0 Super ED aspherical lens for Olympus DSLRs, which costs 50% more and weighs almost three times as much, along with the required Panasonic mount adapter. And this lens is currently the only m43rd ultra wide-angle zoom lens with a constant aperture throughout the zoom range (7mm to 14mm). Wow. And now the bad news. Flash is problematic. The wide aperture at the end of the lens blocks flash in the wide field of view this lens offers, casting an ugly shadow right down the center of the bottom frame. So when you take a flash photo with this lens, your image will have a dark spot in the bottom center where the lens blocked the built-in flash :( I'm not sure if the hot shoe mounted flash can solve this Problem because I couldn't find any lenses smaller than 7mm which is annoying as this f4.0 lens isn't fast enough to shoot in low light without a flash in tight spaces where I always run from a faster one Lens dreams I would have liked this lens to be faster, although it would have been heavier and more expensive, but even so I recommend this magical lens for tight spaces and for landscapes -14mm and have rediscovered its charms with the naked eye the R rowing at Camp Railroad I could only see the rear of Shay's locomotive pulling us up the bear mountain. At 7mm this lens reduced the total mte locomotive on a small part of the frame, and the resulting pictures were better than what I could see with my own eyes (see pictures). The GH1 is so light with this lens that I took a 20 minute Dixiana handheld shot in 1080p24. A few days later, I used this lens for aerial shots of the Bay Area salt flats. The huge 7-14mm focal length range of this lens allowed me to capture aerial photography exactly how I wanted. No other lens in any other widely used camera or camcorder can offer such a wide field of view and such excellent image quality in such a compact and affordable body as this lens.
