Pleasantly surprised, amazing for the money. plus bonuses galore!

The picture was good but for the money I didn't expect it to be of such quality! Very pleasantly surprised. The filler plug on my 2000 Escalade was frozen and partially ripped off by Henry's friend trying to get it out. The cost of repairing it will likely be as high as this beautiful cover. Also, I still have to loosen all 10 bolts and replace the gasket to drain the squash (no drain plug!). Bolted, very heavy and well-made aluminum. An added and unexpected bonus: I've found conflicting information on the correct amount of gear lube for this rear end and my car. It turns out it should be about 2 liters. The usual way to check the level is through the filler plug (you know, the frozen one that never comes out?). This lid has a drain at the bottom, a filler neck at the top and a plug in the middle as well. All very nice anodized hex screws/plugs. When I remove the middle stopper and pour from the top, exactly 2 liters start dripping out of the middle stopper! That means it has a built in level indicator with that center plug! Very good. I've seen covers that cost 2-3 times as much without as great looks and features. I just wish I had a big lift kit on my SUV so I can show it off, sure looks good when I'm down there! I really had to buy 10 new screws. This kit comes with a large tube of black RTV silicone caulk, which is more than enough for the job. Didn't know that, but then again. A pleasant surprise from this purchase. Since the mating surface is much thicker than standard stamped steel, the stock bolts fall short and give me just enough thread to feel good when tightening. No big deal, 10 longer screws were pretty cheap on ACE devices. The screws that came with it were the wrong threads (US or metric) but I don't think they can give you a fastener for every possible rear configuration. Overall very satisfied and would recommend to anyone looking for an easier way to deflate/inflate a 10 bolt GM rear end.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Not all suitable
