Works for Sodastream and makes it cost effective. Read the details.

So my wife bought Sodastream because she likes sparkling water and she wanted it. We used up the supplied CO2 cartridge in about 2-3 weeks. When I look at replacing or replacing CO2 tanks for Sodastream I think this thing is more expensive than store bought tanks or no better. What can I do to make my wife happy but inexpensive? I started researching. The product works as expected by connecting one end to a CO2 tank (CGA320) that you can buy or rent. There are 5 lb, 10 lb, 20 lb aluminum food bottles of different sizes which are the most common for home use. You connect the other end (TR21-4) to Soda Stream or another soda maker. You can drill a hole in the plastic cover on the back to thread through. It's really quite easy to do. Supplied with mounted seals and accessory kit. I'm not sure you'll ever need to replace the gaskets, but time will tell. Finding information on this has been frustrating, so let me share some of the thoughts I learned during this project and projections of potential costs. the quality of drinks or food. If you read online you will find some uses of CO2 from welding consumables. Make sure it is a food grade aluminum tank. You really don't want toxic chemicals in soda water, right? They'll probably live, but who knows. There is a drink class for a reason. As an example, I found a local beverage CO2 supplier (M&H if you are in the KC area) that will sell a 20 lb tank (purchase, not rent) for $177.60 and subsequent refills for Sold for $32.60. You can purchase this adapter for $38.49. possibly less for sale. You don't get 60 liters from a SodaStream CO2 bottle. Maybe 30-40 liters conservatively. These cylinders are 14.5 oz. A new bottle is $29.99 and a refill is $14.99. It costs 74 cents per liter for a new bottle and 37 cents per liter for a 40 liter refill. 8 inches around. In my case, the initial investment of an adapter and a 20 pound CO2 bottle gets you about 24 cents per liter on the initial investment. Subsequent refills drop to 3.7 cents per liter. You also have the savings of not having to pay for shipping (Sodastream offers free shipping on purchases over $50) or drive to the store every few weeks and hope they have refills, which I've read can be hard to find at times. I expect this bottle will give us sparkling water for our hearts and our guests for about a year. If you drink straight soda, it's pretty cheap. Flavors don't come cheap. The best I've found is Crystal Light, which has 10 calories and 0.17 sugar-free calories when you buy a 44-pack from Sams's Club, which contains 4 flavors. So I can get about 20 ounces of deliciously flavored sparkling water for 41 cents. the initial setting and 21 cents (not a full liter so your CO2 will go further and the cost will be a little less than the liter price I quoted). A similar product at Sam's Club weighing 17 ounces costs 61 cents each. Here's how you can see the savings. You can indulge in some of Sodastream's more expensive specialty syrups and flavors. Some are fine, but Crystal Light is great for soda and there are tons of options at the grocery store or Wal-Mart besides the 4 flavors at Sam's Club. Sodastream with a swap/refill is a little cheaper than buying from a store, but not by much and you'd be pretty close with new cylinders. This is based on Sam's Club Crystal Light, not the expensive Sodastream flavors. So I think I've demonstrated the value of investing in an adapter and CO2 tank if you like carbonated drinks. This gives you more features at a great price. And if you learn to love pure sparkling water (uh), 4 cents per liter can hardly be topped. Remember that your CO2 mileage may vary and what you pay for your CO2 in your area may differ and affect the price per liter. .I hope you find this helpful if you plan on submerging your CO2 tank and adapter with a soda stream or other soda maker. I had to unscrew the soda stream connected to the hose. First disappointment and something to consider.
