I use them to replace metal fasteners on my clothes as I am allergic to metal and have gone as far as replacing the buttons on my blouse. I simply sewed up the buttonholes and attached the buttons where the buttonhole used to be and where the buttons used to be. Everyone is wondering how my buttons are unbuttoned without holes. Very good, would recommend to anyone who is making something and doesn't want to fiddle with buttonholes.
