Sturdy well made but slippery leash

The leash is strong and well made but it slips out of my hand very easily especially when wearing gloves making it difficult to use properly. It also keeps slipping down my dog's neck where it should be used (high, under her ears) so it's not as effective as I was hoping and also worries me that it might harm her, when it's not in the right place.
