With Ice Cream Machine on my six year old Christmas list for the second year running, Santa decided he really wanted one enough to get one. And lime green at the same time! As soon as Hot Wheels shut down a few days after Christmas, requests to use the damn thing began to pile up. Of course, the last time I made ice cream with a crank model was in the 70's and it was so labor intensive that we never did it again. So I kept putting it off because I figured I'd need all day. I finally got the few ingredients I needed and was blown away by how quick and easy the whole process was! We measured out a handful of the ingredients needed for vanilla ice cream, added them and the machine did the rest like magic! I made the mistake of putting the mixture in the bowl before starting the machine so it froze on the sides and I had to scrape it off (not an easy task) before the mixer attachment could rotate. That little mess aside, it was easy enough that my 6 year old could make it himself next time! And of course the ice cream was delicious. It's definitely a soft consistency when freshly cooked, but we froze it for a while and it set to a regular ice cream consistency. We can't wait to try more recipes and create our own!
