I got this as a gift for my child's room. They look charming, but they smell like some kind of horrible chemistry. We put them out to air for a few days but they still smelled. I left them in the nursery for two weeks thinking they would fade but no they still smell awful. It made the whole nursery smell like some kind of chemistry and I was afraid to put cake in it. They have cardboard inside so I can't fully wash them, but today I tried wiping them down with a damp cloth and dish soap. It smelled better until they were dry and then the smell returned. It needs cardboard to put inside, so I don't know what else to do with it. They were gifts and they came while I was in the hospital so the return time was already over. Today I rubbed them with lavender essential oil and put them back outside but they still smell at the moment. So I guess I'll give them away. I gave the stars because they looked really cute but are unusable and I don't know what could have caused that smell so you can't just fix them. *** Four months later I still couldn't get rid of the smell and I've tried everything. So they are basically useless.
