When we bought our yacht it came with a handheld HawkEye sonar which the previous owners used for years on their round the world voyages. We used it our first year in the Bahamas and found it extremely useful for finding edge cuts and anchor points for our 6ft boat, but then we forgot to remove the batteries at the end of the season, they broke and ruined it. so we ordered this new one. We had to test it before leaving for the Caribbean because the moment we used it it crashed and only showed the temperature and not the depth. We have tried it many times in both saltwater and freshwater. If you buy this make sure you complete the warranty registration process within 15 days of purchase - we didn't.
