Just got it so can't say if it's easy to clean. This hall runner isn't dirty yet. When it does get the inevitable spots, the rather intricate pattern and color variations should hide them.As for softness, the rug is very thin, barely has any pile tp speak of but that's okay because I wanted a hall runner with a worn, antique look and this rug is perfect. In fact, I think this particular color combo looks better in real life than in the pictures. A genuine handwoven rug like this would probably cost at least $500. I ordered separately some nonskid material since this rug doesn't have a noslip backing. Not a complaint. For the money spent, under $60 with free shipping, I got a beautiful rug that looks more expensive and provides exactly the look I envisioned. Very pleased. Shipping was very prompt even during covid19. I had item two days after I ordered it.We'll see how long this runner lasts. I got it mainly so pets wouldn't slip and fall when running in the hall. But it looks so nice I wish I'd gotten this sooner! UPDATE 10DEC2021: rug still looks amazing, exactly as I had envisioned when looking for rug with antique, worn appearance. The only problem so far is the cheap edge binging that is easily pulled loose by the vacuum cleaner. Then the string gets all tangled in the vacuum’s carpet roller. About a third of the edge binding on my rug is gone now. Possible solution is maybe to just not run the vacuum cleaner over this rug. That said, the appearance is awesome and if there are any stains like from spilled coffee, I can’t tell, which was the point of getting a rug with a "busy” pattern. Still happy, just a little bit less so due to the loose thread business.
