Great replacement for the Difficult Grip derailleur

I replaced the clutch derailleur on my daughter's Diamondback Tess 20 because it was incredibly difficult to shift. I'm quite a strong guy and it was hard for me to put him down. My 8 year old daughter didn't stand a chance. I thought the switch was the problem but some forums said they had luck with the toggle switch so for $15 I tried this one. I'm amazed at how well this works! Downshifting requires minimal effort by pulling the lever, while upshifting requires a button press. My daughter loves it, it's like a new bike for her. Installation was easy, took about 20 minutes without instructions. The steps were: 1. Wet the handle with soapy water and slide.2. Loosen the hex screw on the shift knob.3. I loosened the nut holding the cable to the switch and pulled the cable out.4. Pulled the switch and cable out of their shrouds and noted how it was routed.5. Position the new switch on the handlebar against the brake lever bracket and tighten the clamp bolt.6. I unraveled the new cable and laid it in the same way as the old one. I used dry vaginal lube that said it was good for plastic. Not sure if this was necessary or right.7. Routed the wire through the switch terminal.8. After making sure the bike gear is in 6th (chain in gear), set the derailleur to 6, pull the cable through the derailleur clamp and tighten the clamp bolt. I was expecting more settings but all 6 speeds just worked. I set it up fine for the shifter so I was just expecting to tweak the cable's position in the clamp.9. Cut off the excess wire with wire cutters and transfer the crimp from the old wire to the new. I think I was lucky I took it off the old one and just crimped the new one with a crimping tool. I think you can buy crimps easily, but cover them with something that stays so they don't wear out or prick.10. Wash most of the soapy water off the handle and put it back on. A NOTICE. The grip switch was part of the grip, so the remaining grip is short. I'm working with her little pen for now, but I need to buy a new set of pens. This switch seems to be of good quality. Time will tell, but so far it's more than I expected for $15. I hope this review helps someone find the same solution!
