I just bought this model roughly three weeks ago. Almost everything was transferred to a fresh disk and I immediately began clearing out my primary computer and laptop. Copies are made rapidly enough, and operation is silent. However, the disc stopped operating after only three weeks. I've established a connection, but thus far, nothing has happened. The identical response occurred when I attempted to connect to PCs running different operating systems. I opted to get in touch with WD's customer care (support. Wdc. Com), but I soon discovered that things aren't exactly straightforward there, either. It is unable to locate a warranty-covered service. Send in your broken drive for replacement, and they'll pay for shipping both ways. However, we cannot contemplate this possibility because the data on the disk is of considerable value and must be retrieved. There is a "data recovery" link on the support site, however the only company listed for the year 2022 is located in Hong Kong, and there is no mention of a partnership between WD and that company on its website. It's been a week since I emailed help and they still haven't gotten back to me. Therefore, it appears that purchasing this disc exposes the buyer to the risks of receiving a subpar product and unsatisfactory support. Consider whether you truly require it. Taking Seagate seems inevitable at this point.
