From a distance they look like a normal surveillance camera. I had trouble getting the hood back on after putting the batteries in. I ended up hot glued the one that couldn't hold the hood in place. I suspect that in heavy rain, water will most likely seep into them since the battery compartment is not airtight. Very easy to install, just 3 screws and assembly. Mine keep blinking, but I'm under the impression there's a motion sensor that works. flash.
