Allows you to quickly finish most sanding jobs

Failed to load media. After comparing this file to some of the others I typically use I have come to the conclusion that this is a good all round file that will definitely work up lawn mower blades, old rusty axes and any metal that needs sharpening/tuning quickly. There are files with different tooth patterns, which are divided into the following groups: coarse, medium, bastard, second cut, smooth and completely smooth. It's a bastard file that fits right in the middle of the package and means you can do most things with it. As I mentioned in my video, this file is easy to work with partly because of the handle, but also because it's smaller than some files and therefore quite flexible. You can of course use the sides of the file, but I only do this when I want to cut a square indentation in something. I use the flat surface of this file 99% of the time and it is very "sharp" meaning it cuts other metals aggressively. I have used Stanley tools for over two decades and appreciate the quality of their products. This file is surprisingly affordable, but it's not as low quality as some I've mistakenly bought from my local discount store. This is a good file at a good price and I expect to use it for many years to come. . A good tool should last a lifetime and this file definitely falls into that category. SHARPENING NOTE: I typically only use this file as a first pass when sharpening when the blade I'm sharpening has burrs or dents. You can use a whetstone for this, but in my experience a file is more accurate. Mower blades can be sharpened with a file and nothing else. Knives usually need a stone to properly sharpen the blade. This product was NOT provided to me as part of a promotion. I bought it after some comparison shopping and this review is solely the result of my own opinion and use of the product.

Pros
  • Flat file that tapers in width and thickness to remove general material
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled
