I have tears on my seats from my 17 year old car. These are leather seats, but there are vinyl areas. This is where the gaps start to appear and they spread. I've always been a fan of JB Weld. I've used their products throughout my home and fixed things I thought couldn't be salvaged. The adhesive in JB Weld's Leather & Vinyl Repair prevents cracks from propagating when a backing is used. In fact, I found scraps of fabric the same color as my car seats. This worked well with tear repair glue which didn't require me to mix and add color filler. At one point when I was mixing the spatula, it was difficult to get the color perfectly matched to the car seat. I found an online tool where you upload your material image. It gives you recommendations on which colors to mix and how well they match the material in the picture. But mine still came out too dark compared to the car seat. If the filler ever comes off on its own, I might try mixing a lighter batch again. But for now I'm happy. After all, it's a 17-year-old car and it's a $10 repair. In any case, my main concern was to stop the cracks from spreading. This part worked fine.
