I'm a strong believer in the 'on the spot' method of the recipe, where all the ingredients are prepared in small bowls before you start cooking. As such, I have a variety of small bowls ranging from one to seven ounces. But when I had, say, a chopped onion and two chopped carrots to fry together, the 7-ounce bowls were too small to hold both ingredients (maybe even one of them!). Wouldn't it be nice to have multiple bowls that could hold so many? I also have the standard set of 3 Anchor Hocking mixing bowls, but the smallest bowl in this set is 1.5 liters - much larger than I expected and I certainly didn't want to buy another full set of these bowls. Shells just to get another "small" shell. Enter this Duralex shell set. They comfortably hold more than three cups of solids or 2 3/4 cups of liquid. And now I have six of them! Problem solved. Can't comment on claims of increased breakage just yet, but they are definitely dishwasher and microwave safe. One of my best purchases this year.
