Review on Pink Power Cordless Electric Fabric Scissors Box Cutter: Perfect Craft, Sewing, Cardboard & Scrapbooking Tool by Carol Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

MUCH easier on my hands than hand scissors!

I bought them for sewing. Arthritis in my hands made cutting fabric patterns even more painful. I've gotten to the point where I need to cut out two pieces of the pattern, rest and cut out two more, etc. They were mentioned on one of the sewing sites or blogs I follow. Can't remember which one, but I added this product to my Revain list to check later. I used electric scissors decades ago. These are much more powerful. As other reviewers have noted, they are a bit noisy so you probably won't be using them late at night when other people are sleeping in the next room. I've used them to cut muslin, denim, and polyester/viscose/spandex ponte. Wonderful! With each use I became more precise in my cuts. I expect to gain even more skills as I use them more often. The biggest piece of advice I've learned is "slow down". I have better control (at least for now while I'm getting used to it) when I move my hand slower. At first I tended to move my arm forward quickly because those power scissors cut as fast as you move them! But at least for me, speed and accuracy are incompatible. In my excitement I didn't control my shots well enough :-) I'm already gaining speed while maintaining accuracy. The learning curve is not long at all. But I would recommend practicing on the fabric patches at least a few times to get a feel for it. This is a game changer for me. Fiction! The seller is great too.

Pros
  • Crafts and sewing
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
