I'm a finish carpenter and we use combo bits to pre-drill most hardwoods. Usually for non-standard office work. I usually buy Irwin bits at my local hardware store, they're good too, but these are even better! Hitting the screw or turning it too hard will inevitably break the main bit, and getting 3 shafts for the price of a combo is great!
