Review on Norpro Cast Iron Bacon Press with Wood Handle - High-Quality and Round by Tiffany Fuller

Revainrating 3 out of 5

8/10 almost perfect bacon maker at a good price

Have been using it for a little over 3 years. He is strong (yes). The handle has an annoying twist that could be corrected with minimal effort if it bothers me enough, which doesn't seem to be the case. When seasoning it in the oven I accidentally left the knob on which turned out to be no big deal as it looked a bit dated. To be honest I liked the look and was impressed that it was of such high quality that it didn't fall apart or burn like cheap glued on junk. Wort has formed. It's not a negative anymore, it's a fact of life, so I don't blame the company for that. Also, I'd be pissed if I got rusty cast iron because the crate got caught in a downpour along the way. It didn't work that well for steaks, but it definitely worked well for bacon. I usually preheat this on the burner next to the pan I'm cooking in while preheating the pan. If you've never used a press before, be careful: the cooking speed will be drastically reduced. It took me a lot of burnt piglets to get through this, but it was worth it. Imagine all the white fat parts of the bacon cooked to a golden, crispy state of perfection that beats the meat part.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Some flaws
