I bought this laptop stand to elevate my small 13" ultrabook to eye level while working so I didn't have to worry about weight restrictions. The stand is very stable and holds the position well. Having a larger 15.6-inch gaming laptop on hand, I tested the stiffness on a heavier machine. Suffice it to say that it holds a large laptop very well with no issues. I do not use this stand for typing on a laptop. This is not ideal for a thinner Ultrabook, as the bottom "hooks" of the stand protrude too far for a thin laptop to be comfortable. This is not a problem with a thicker laptop such as a gaming laptop, the hooks do not interfere if you want to use a writing stand. Finally, the stand's rubber parts do a great job of holding laptops in place, and the hole in the stand is a nice bonus in terms of facilitating airflow.
