I love this duvet set, but let's get picky people out of the way: It came with a few strands hanging down from either side of the duvet and sewn together to keep the whole thing flat (see photo in other reviews). ) , and I had to carefully sort and crop them. A nicer and more expensive quilt would have the two sides stitched together, or at least these stitches would be concealed by being woven into the quilting pattern on the top of the quilt. Instead, what you get is a randomly sewn line with threads of one color, sometimes contrasting with the patch of color it goes through. I don't mind a plum duvet, but if that's what you want then this set isn't for you. I think with darker kits this will be more of an issue. Again, in my opinion, this is not a minus, but a note: do not expect too much drape. We have a king bed and I bought a king set and the comforter covers the depth of our Purple 4 mattress but if there was an open box spring it wouldn't cover that. Just long enough to snuggle up at the foot of the bed and not too wide on the sides. That being said, the fabric of this duvet and sheet is so soft and comfortable! I am VERY picky about the feel of the fabric against the skin and this was exactly what I wanted: soft and smooth without anything that grabs you like some polyester fabrics. It definitely looks like cotton. The photo is very colourfast and goes perfectly with our mottled gray headboard. The seams are tight and straight. It's light but also quite warm in mild weather, but I'll probably buy a duvet for the foot of the bed to keep us warmer in winter.
