used an S-Video connection to access my old Harman Kardon AV receiver setup because it lost its programming due to a power outage. I had to switch the receiver from analog to digital/optical in the menu, but there were no component, composite or S-Video connections on the back of my new Samsung Smart TV. This gadget has done its job. I had an HDMI input on my TV labeled "Gaming" but the TV didn't notice a difference. Connected it to the gadget and works as described. BTW: I bought a 110 socket with USB inputs which I used to power this gadget.
