It's hard to tell at this point how well this actually works. Since it's summer, the temperature in my house is above normal (75 degrees) so this water heater doesn't have to work as hard to keep the water warm. I put the heater (50W) in a small amount of water (maybe a litre) to test it and it heated it up a few degrees until it reached 80. If the light is red, it means it is heating up, if it's green means the heating is complete at that time. I'm not sure if it has an internal thermometer that stops heating at a certain temperature or not, but I plan to use it for my ducks in the winter so the water doesn't freeze outside. It says not to be used in freezing temperatures but that was in the manual after I got it so I'll try anyway. As I said earlier, I think performance will depend on several factors including the amount of water you are heating and the temperature in your room. I think I'll update this review once it gets cooler and see how well it works.
