Works as advertised. plug and play The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the metal frame is a little rough around the edges, so the first time you try to put it in your laptop's CD slot it gets hooked and you have to put in some effort . shake it to eventually slide it in. Also, there's no easy way to pry it back out since there's nothing to grab, so I had to use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry up the edge to get started. Once it's installed, you need to figure out what needs to be done to close the hole. The CD drive had a nice plastic cover, but there is no way to transfer that cover to this frame. I'll probably just tape it over if I can't find a replacement cap for this purpose. The good news is that once installed, the computer will immediately recognize the hard drive as an internal hard drive upon boot – no setup or drivers required. Since we can use USB drives instead of CDs, this is a great way to add a second hard drive to your laptop. I recommend replacing the HDD with an SSD as the C drive, then mounting the original HDD as the D drive and using that for storage. I do that with this laptop.
