    Hard Drive Caddy for my Dell XPS L502x with Windows 8.1

    I bought this to replace my Bluray RW drive on my Dell XPS L502x (which I've hardly used). Using Caddy with my old 1TB HGST 7200 hard drive. 2 things I don't like about this caddy: 1) The plastic surround around the caddy is too thick so the OEM screws that attach the metal anchor to the front of the caddy prevent the drive from sliding out.     it works. This is an adapter. I used to replace the ODD drive on the Dell server with a small hard drive that could be used as an OS drive. Works perfectly. Update: Got the second one about a month after the first. The quality of the second is worse than that of the first. Both are still working. The bright lights on the front are really bright and work great as ODD replacements in the Dell R310, R210ii and R710.     A few weeks ago I decided to add a second hard drive to my laptop and I am very happy with my decision. I never use a CD drive anyway, and it's nice to be able to store all my files on a second drive. This will make things a lot easier the next time I need a new computer.     Works as advertised but physical setup is a bit finicky.

    Works as advertised. plug and play The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the metal frame is a little rough around the edges, so the first time you try to put it in your laptop's CD slot it gets hooked and you have to put in some effort . shake it to eventually slide it in. Also, there's no easy way to pry it back out since there's nothing to grab, so I had to use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry up the edge to get started.     Good on a Toshiba Satellite P755d with a few fixes

    This is a decently made cart, aluminum and not quite plastic like the one I bought for an older Dell (never worked but too cheap to send back ). Two problems. for my special gear, Satellite and OCZ Agility. First, my laptop has a small bracket that attaches the optical case to the unit with a single screw under the memory bay.     Worth the money, I don't regret the purchase. but there is room for improvement.

    I put 3/5. It works once you set everything up correctly and looks fine with a CD mount placed on it, but it's not perfect and those are the downsides. There are stickers on the caddy which should have instructions. However, I have found that they do not fit my caddy. The stickers show clips that are not in my shopping cart.
