Okay, here's my detailed, honest review. First I have to tell you that I've struggled for a while to find a flat iron that works well for my hair type. I've been using the same one for several years but it died a few weeks ago and finding one to fit was a nightmare. My old hair straightener was a Remington with teflon coated plates which they no longer make. I was so heartbroken when I discovered this because this straightener has worked wonders for my hair. I have very fine hair so I have to be careful with the type of flat iron I use. Most ceramic straighteners don't work for me because my hair is naturally curly (and very long) so it tends to pull on my hair whether the plates float or not. Apart from that I have tried different types of straighteners with different shapes and plates and even tried straightening brushes. Brushes just don't produce that silky sheen like flat irons, so it was a failure. Then I discovered this bad boy. Iron with smooth, shiny TITANIUM plates (not ceramic!) and I'm in love! This review is going to sound like I was paid to do it, but I swear to you all on my father's grave, I was not asked to review this matter and I was not paid to do so. I just received it an hour ago. Lol Anyway, apart from being a very nice iron in a fancy package, it works great! It usually takes me 4-5 passes to get my hair as straight as I like because 1. I'm a perfectionist and 2. I have very curly, unruly and wavy hair. With this iron I only did 2-3 passes for each section which cut the straightening time in half. And my hair is very soft and shiny, and most importantly, it doesn't twitch at all, which was the most important quality I was looking for. Like I said, most flat irons get caught in my hair, but this one went on smoothly and didn't cause any breakage or tugging. The overall quality of the straightener itself seems very good, especially for the price. I can't say how long it will last because I received it a week ago, but it seems really well made. I will update my review in the future if it stops working. I'm so glad I took the risk and bought this straightener despite some bad reviews. Not sure if this was user error or if they just have a bad rectifier. I definitely recommend it and if you don't like it you can always return it. You have nothing to lose, so go for it!
