Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Women's Athletic Shoes - Brooks Glycerin Black Ombre Metallic - Enhancing Performance by Rebecca Marie

Sizing incompatible with Glycerin line - runs small

I have a pair of old Brooks Glycerin 13s (I wear my shoes up!), size 8.5 Med. I liked these shoes for their wide toes and of their comfort and thought it would be easy to order the same size in the same Glycerin line. In regular shoes, I wear an 8 med. My feet tend to be wide, but I don't usually need to order wide shoes unless they get narrow, which Brooks never did. This Glycerin GTS 19 was both narrow and short at 8.5 Med, to the point where it was difficult to progress. It also didn't feel like it had significant arch support. The base of the sole is also very wide, so you can scratch the edges of the sole while running (maybe this is a stabilizing part of the GTS construction?). Because sizing is not maintained between shoe styles, it has been too difficult to continue shopping online without being able to try on multiple shoes. I have high arches and supination so I wanted a cushioned, neutral, arch supportive shoe for light roads and treadmills (7+ miles per week). After trying on several brands and styles at a local store I settled on the Brooks Ghost 14 which fit like my old glycerins and was perfectly comfortable in the 8.5 med. Brooks makes good shoes, but I didn't like the fit. I'm sure they will fit others, especially those who wear them for comfort at work, but don't expect them to fit like previous Brooks shoes and consider ordering a larger size and/or width .

  • Running
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
