Great Budget Projector, Lack of Brightness, Lumens vs ANSI Lumens, Which is Right?

Update: 9/9/2020 This projector works very well. I found new information about it and some shortcomings. - It is manufactured by HKTDC Sourcing. - Model M8 according to their website. They only rate the projector at 3000 lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, the rest of the functionality described on Revain is the same. I feel cheated. Dust on the inside of the lens is difficult to remove with a compressed air cleaner. I found a very small amount of dust inside the reflective mirror and lens. It was there when I bought it and I don't know how else it could have gotten in as the air filter was never removed. Air inside to clean it, this device doesn't have it. - To clean the inside you have to disassemble it completely. There are 5 small screws on the bottom, but the case itself also snaps into place. If you take it apart you risk breaking these clips and damaging the outer case. The handyman in me knows I can poke a small hole under the decal just to clean the lens and mirror, but I'll wait until I have to clean it. It really shouldn't be that dirty unless the air filter is never cleaned. I removed the dust with a dust bag with the air filter off. This worked and cleared the mirror and lens of fine dust particles. I reinstalled the filter, tested it and no problem. What's good: This projector has very good specifications for its price range. It has both vertical and horizontal keystone correction that can be accessed from a menu. It also has hidden ceiling mounts under the rubber feet. I bought a Vivo universal mount for it. You can also change the projection orientation from top to bottom to the rear. The focus ring around the lens is very smooth and smooth. In fact, I was very surprised by the speakers on the projector. They actually sound pretty decent considering the size. It sounds a little "boxy" and distorts at high volumes. I won't blame the device as small speakers mean weak sound. Still decent. As for the fan noise, I don't find it too loud, but reasonable for the size of the device. The Bad: The brightness is, I would say, the only negative thing about this projector. Another problem I've encountered is marketing inconsistency. Revain's description says it's 6800 lumens, but product photos say 6500 lumens. I'm assuming the rating is in lumens, not ANSI lumens. Not sure if this is even rated for ANSI lumens or anything equivalent. As you can see from the pictures, the white wall is a little lacking in brightness. I drew the curtains where there are two windows and it's cloudy outside, not sunny. In a room with normal lighting I would say this projector is perfect for everyday use. I intend to do this for the man cave below. I also expect better performance in an almost dark room. If you were to use this projector outdoors, you probably wouldn't be able to see it well during the day. I'm sure this projector works very well at dusk or at night. Judging by the advertised lumen range of 6500-6800 lumens I'd say that's a fair estimate, most likely a typo in the marketing material. Based on my research I would say that 6800 lumens is approximately 1000 ANSI lumens. Knowing this rough rating, I'd say it's perfect for a darkened/dark room or outdoors at night. Summary: Overall for what I paid for this device I would say it's a great purchase, don't hesitate to buy it. It certainly won't illuminate a runway in terms of brightness, but the performance is sufficient for my needs.
