Pyramid PS9KX 12V Power Supply - Definitely BUY, quality construction, meets advertised specs

This is a review of the Pyramid PS9KX 12V, 5A Power Supply. Made in China but built like a tank (The case is steel, as you'd expect. It has a 12V cigarette lighter socket, as well as a set of screw terminals (+/-) connectors. I mainly use it to program settings for dash cams b/ c I hate getting off them or breaking my neck to see them on the windshield - usually in very hot or cold cars. It's a pleasure to program on the living room couch or at your desk. Of course you can use device to charge/power 12V devices with a suitable connector. The socket and screw terminals have a claimed output voltage of 13.8V (I have verified that the output voltage on both is 13.78V - close enough) The power cord for my unit is 51" long and that is the only downside (no pun intended) of the unit - would have liked an 8ft cord otherwise I'm rating this power supply al s DEFINITE PURCHASE. The power supply has: 1) thermal protection, 2) short circuit protection and 3) fuse. It operates on 115 VAC at 60 Hz and consumes 70 watts. It is designed for direct current 5A, pulse current 7A. It has a nice heatsink on the back that appears to be aluminum. It has thick rubber feet to keep it stable. My block weighed 4 pounds. 1.9 kg (3 oz) without power cord.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not for everyone
