I have used high precision sound meters in the past and of course it was quite expensive. This device is very cheap and does a decent job for what it costs. It measures the overall sound pressure level in the specified bandwidth. It does not in any way indicate the audio levels on the selected bands. Accuracy has not been measured but seems acceptable based on my past experience with more complex devices. I used it to measure aircraft noise during landings and takeoffs to see if it was worth investigating. This device can 'put you in the right place', but I suspect it falls short of what might be used in a professional context. Overall it does a good job for the price.
