This is a great product at a great price. But as with any product, it is advisable to read the instructions. It's called working with double-thick fabric, and it's easy to cut a small circle out of fabric to make it double. Not lined up correctly? I do not see it. Within 5 minutes of opening the box, apart from a few minutes reading the instructions, I had replaced the first latch on the boat lid. And don't push it. When you have the parts properly aligned (partially close the tool and move the parts into alignment), press with moderate force and you will feel it "give" as the locking socket is pushed into place. Very easy.
