Somewhere in February we rescued a homeless pregnant woman. Unfortunately, due to the poor advice of our former veterinarian, she had serious complications during childbirth and eventually died when her kittens were only eight days old. We've hand raised them since then, but they were incredibly ill and didn't have a mom cat. Since they are too small for us to cuddle all the time, we needed something to help them comfort them between meals and spend time with us. We couldn't find a real kitty (maybe they're not made anymore) so we bought this one and used it in combination with a heating pad. This little heart actually does what it describes. It pulses and sounds just like a beating heart. We hid it under her blanket along with a heating pad and you could still feel and faintly hear the beating. While we did lay them on it occasionally, on the whole we didn't really find them important. We had three kittens, two of them survived the disease so maybe it didn't matter much because they had a brother or sister. I would definitely try again if we ever had a rescue baby.
