If you have a child like mine that is sometimes uncoordinated, it may take them a little longer to get used to the movement required for this scooter. My child loves his regular scooter but has never skated before. The motions required to make this go, kind of reminds me of the pushing movements you make when skating. However once they get the hang of it, it will be a breeze and super fun. My child loves anything with light-up wheels, so the fact that this has them, he thinks it's super cool. It is a little hard to see the wheels light up during the day, so I think it is a good reason to let my child ride when it is getting dark, plus he thinks it's cool. Mom win! We already had protective gear but it is a bonus that this comes with them, in case you don't already own them. I really like that the weight limit is over 100 lbs, it can grow with my child & will not just be a one season scooter.
