Good cage for butterflies only. I have several monarch caterpillars and it was not easy to place milkweed with enough space for them. Like I said, I put it to the side. It worked well enough. I lined it with wax paper to keep the litter out of the mesh. Three caterpillars pupate on branches inside the cage and not on the enclosure. Also on the lid is only a small Velcro fastener. The caterpillars might run away. I bought a large 24 x 24 x 24 zippered pop up cube and it works much better for growing caterpillars into butterflies. I will continue to use this fence to mark and release monarchs.
