WHY I WANTED A MESH HABITAT: I have an herb garden and when clipping some parsley for my dinner came across a caterpillar chomping away (Swallowtail). I then had an adult female swallowtail fluttering around my plant and proceeded to lay numerous eggs on the same parsley plant. I made a quick makeshift terrarium to house the caterpillar along with some clippings of the parsley plant and in the meantime I had ordered a small mesh habitat. When that arrived, I placed the entire parsley plant, pot

Pros
  • Provides a unique way to teach kids about science
Cons
  • The cage may not be suitable for household with curious pets

Perfect enclosure!: my feedback

This is a perfect enclosure for futterflies as my littles call them. We had a few caterpillars we needed to keep enclosed while they made their transition and this was it! There is a viewing side which makes it very easy to see what's going on inside and the zipper is large enough to put the larger potter milkweed plant inside. Definitely recommend this if you want to watch the amazing transition from caterpillar to butterfly!

Pros
  • Can be used for photography
Cons
  • The cage may not be able to keep insects contained if they escape

Overall a great product. but.

I am currently raising a large brood of Polyphemus caterpillars, so added two more of these cages to the three that I already had. One is perfect but the second reeks to high heaven of some sort of floral scent. It’s been expanded for a week now. I even washed it in the shower, but it still reeks so much that I hate to walk by it. I’m not sure whether it was simply stored next to something smelly and the plastic picked up the scent, but it’s really awful. If I wasn’t desperate for the cage I’d…

Pros
  • Habitats
Cons
  • The cage may not be able to withstand outdoor weather conditions

Perfect for hatching native Carolina Praying Mantis!

Both of my Carolina praying mantis oothecae hatched! This habitat was the perfect size. I put a small potted plant inside the enclosure with the egg sacs attached to a stick and put the stick in the soil of the potted plant. I kept this on a window sill indoors until they hatched. Once they hatched I took the entire thing out to my raspberry patch and unzipped it for them to go feast on the spotted lanternfly nymph infestation. One side of the cube is plastic and all the other sides are mesh. I

Pros
  • Encourages children's curiosity about nature
Cons
  • The cage may not provide enough privacy for the insects inside

Works perfectly. I released five Monarchs

I found an egg and multiple caterpillars on my marsh milkweed. I kept adding fresh leaves to a sturdy mason jar of water. I put multiple layers of paper towel in the bottom so that I could take out one sheet each day to remove the poops. It is recommended that you raise an outdoors but then you need rocks or to tie it down so the wind doesn't tilt it. Five new Monarchs in the world and this generation has to go all the way to Mexico.

Pros
  • Perfect for homeschooling
Cons
  • The cage may be too cumbersome to transport during travel

Excellent Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage

This is an excellent cage! I use it for praying Mantids, and the wingless fruitflys they eat. The cage has outstanding sheerness, and breathing ability while keeping everyone inside. The two zippers and stitching are made extremely well, and come together so tight that nothing, not even fruit flys are able to escape. The top of the cage is some type of plastic that makes it very easy to see whatever is inside. The cage is also very roomy. I love this cage, and highly recommend it.

Pros
  • Zipper used to be nylon but now is cheap zipper
Cons
  • The zippered access on the cage may be difficult to use for some individuals

Provides shelter for butterfly chrysalids.

We planted passion vine this year to provide habitat for Fritillary butterflies. Caterpillars started showing up in July, chrysalids started decorating the vines by August. It was so fun to watch a beautiful butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. Then the wasps arrived to feed on the helpless chysalids as they hung immobilized on the vine. This butterfly sanctuary has been the perfect solution. We snip off a piece of branch with caterpillars and place in water inside the netting. In just a week…

Pros
  • Fun to use
Cons
  • The cage may become a breeding ground for bacteria or disease

Perfect for raising butterflies from caterpillars

This is the smaller tent but it's all you need to protect caterpillars so they can make it through metamorphosis into moth or butterfly form. Be sure to put some forked sticks in with the caterpillar(s) because they like to climb and wander up and down. Clean the frass out of the bottom EVERY DAY and restock fresh leaves for them to eat. Birds will eat caterpillars so you can save a couple out of the food chain and watch them make the change. One side is clear so you get to see the whole…

Pros
  • Provides a learning experience for all ages
Cons
  • The cage may not provide enough space for insects to fly or move around freely

Almost perfect best in my review

We purchased three to protect Monarch caterpillars from wasps. Thankfully, they work well. However, they are hard to clean well, as droppings are both on the bottom, and in the pots holding the plants. This has been the best solution so far. However, I would prefer planting the milkweed, and placing these over the plant, anchoring them down from the wind, and able to lift off. As leaves are totally eaten, we could move the case, as well as cats still munching away. We have many spider wasps and

Pros
  • Easy to assemble
Cons
  • The cage may not be compatible with certain types of insects

Nice and roomy for my opinion

Love the size and accessibility but the bright white netting makes it harder to see in. I have another one that has a clearer netting and I can see much better through it

Pros
  • Provides a safe habitat for insects and butterflies
Cons
  • The cage may be difficult to assemble or disassemble

Nice and inexpensive.

Easy to use, easy enough to clean, perfect for the hobby of helping the monarch butterfly fulfill its life cycle. That's my feedback.

Cons
  • The cage may be too fragile to use with children or pets around

Perfect for butterfly season

Bought for homeschooling our 6 year old. Such a cute butterfly habitat to learn the stages of butterfly growth. The cage may not provide enough ventilation for the insects inside!

Pros
  • Includes a quick start guide manual to raise butterflies. The plants is not included.
Cons
  • The cage may not provide enough ventilation for the insects inside

Bad design in my review

*** The seller reached out to me and refunded me for the faulty item!***This cage is awful. The screen has a new material and the silk buttons don't adhere good make them fall.

Pros
  • Provides a fun way to learn about nature
Cons
  • The cage may not provide enough space to change out food or water dishes regularly

Nice smaller size in 12x12x12

I bought this smaller size to house just a few caterpillars while my larger enclosure was in use. It works just fine similar to the larger one.

Pros
  • Can be used in the home setting
Cons
  • The cage may give off a plastic-like odor that could bother some individuals

Worked great for my monarchs.

This was great for my monarchs! My plant fit in perfectly. It wasn't too huge, and I was able to monitor them through the clear window.

Pros
  • Stimulates creativity
Cons
  • The cage may not provide enough protection from predators or pests

I found the big fat caterpillars in my carrots and after doing some searching on the internet, found they were Swallowtails. I put them in some gallon containers and decided to purchase this to give them more room. Just beautiful . . I am looking forward to next summer and more butterflies.

Pros
  • Lightweight and portable
Cons
  • The cage may be too heavy to move around easily

Easy to use, great instruction booklet!

This was very easy to use, visability was very good, my grandkids loved it! I will use it again next year. Thanks for attention!

Pros
  • Allows you to observe insects and butterflies up close
Cons
  • The cage may attract unwanted pests or bugs
