Better than I'd hoped for!

I ordered this net as an "upgrade" to the smaller net I already had. I did read the dimensions when I ordered it, but it was still bigger than I'd imagined! This is my first season raising monarch caterpillars. I had seven in a teeny tiny net, and they were growing at an alarming rate. This new net came in JUST in time for chrysalis formation! My only regret is that I didn't order it sooner! My old net only held about 4 stalks of milkweed comfortably. This new one can handle at least five times…

Pros
  • Habitats
Cons
  • The material collects dirt and debris easily, leading to a difficult clean-up process

EXCELLENT for raising Monarch butterflies!

I bought several sizes and two of this size for when my caterpillars were getting ready to become chrysalids. I use plastic containers for the small caterpillars til when they become stage 5 and ready to pupate. The tops of these give plenty of room for about 16-20 chrysalis's. However, when they eclose (hatch), I have another one of these right next to it and put the monarch in those when they have dried off and starting to walk around the top of the cage, stretching their wings. I put them in

Pros
  • Ideal for educational purposes, science projects, or homeschooling
Cons
  • The material may fray or tear, leading to exposed edges that could potentially harm insects or butterflies

I bought this pop up enclosure after finding Eastern Black Swallowtail eggs on some dill back in June. After raising our first round of swallowtails, we ended up with our second round, then our third. We now have nearly 90 eggs that we’re waiting on. This enclosure works well enough that we bought a second one for housing chrysalises to keep them separate from growing caterpillars and I expect that we will likely buy a third soon. We found that folding and unfolding the pop up is very similar…

Pros
  • Great for nature walks, hikes, and other outdoor activities
Cons
  • The pop-up feature may become unstable with extended use, leading to unpredictable and potentially dangerous behavior

Exactly what I was looking for!

I created my own cage last summer for our balcony out of a collapsible laundry hamper. it worked, but I was always fighting with my makeshift lid and many of our Black Swallowtail caterpillars escaped. This year I decided to get serious and purchased this RESTCLOUD habitat specifically made for the purpose of raising butterflies. This one is the perfect size and the price couldn't be beat––it even came with a helpful and educational pamphlet about raising butterflies. The mailed package was…

Pros
  • Constructed with high-quality materials ensures durability and longevity
Cons
  • The material is not breathable, leading to poor ventilation and unhealthy living conditions for insects and butterflies

I'm not a fan of keeping butterflies locked up - but

This year I had a butterfly that could not fly. It was heartbreaking - he was perfect in every way but just could not fly. I bought a bunch of flowers in pony packs (flowers that are picked stop producing nectar) in there. - I got about six pony packs in there, with room for a bit of cantaloupe with a small reservoir for gatorade. During the day I sat him on a plant in the garden, and during the evening he came inside. He lasted 27 days and I was glad to get to know him. But I wouldn't keep a…

Pros
  • Professional Version: Monarch butterfly habitat is more square, sits straight, does not rock or move.
Cons
  • The mesh is not strong enough to withstand the weight of larger insects, leading to tearing or breakage

good for caterpillars

i canceled my order because i had went to walmart and found a laundry hamper that i thought would work perfectly. the caterpillars ended up escaping from the hamper though so i had to secure the laundry hamper and check on them every 30 mins. 2 days later the cage ended up coming even though i had canceled my order. i wasnt so mad though as i really needed the cage. the cage works perfectly and there was no way that my caterpillars could escape. they are now in their cocoon doing perfectly…

Pros
  • Perfect for why I ordered them!
Cons
  • The pop-up cage is prone to tearing, leaving insects and butterflies vulnerable to predators

UPDATED - So far so good.

I got this cage for my monarch caterpillars after an assassin bug killed several on my swamp milkweed. I moved 12 of them inside, and got this cage for the bigger caterpillars, so they didn't harm the little guys. So far it has worked well - the zipper has worked, the caterpillars have climbed to the top to form chrysalides, and I'm about to hang some chrysalides that formed in another container from the mesh roof. The mesh is very fine, which is good for keeping caterpillars in, and other bugs

Pros
  • Provides a natural environment for insects and butterflies to flourish
Cons
  • The cage may become a breeding ground for bacteria or other harmful microorganisms

Awesome for our caterpillars and butterflies!

This was perfect to hold our growing caterpillars, the cocoons and the butterflies! Used it for our monthly science project with my toddler and it was just magical to watch. This honestly reminds me of the laundry bags from the dollar stores! In fact t my baby sitter came over and said she had one! Lol but whoever decided that add that clear zipper door and the top knew what they were doing! It’s just what you need to raise those little critters! I added napkins to the bottom because when the…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor events, such as weddings, birthday parties, and other celebrations
Cons
  • The cage is not suitable for long-term storage, as the pop-up feature may become damaged or lose elasticity over time

Great for Educational purposes !

Perfect for teaching kids the butterfly lifecycle! We collected caterpillars from our own garden at the school and watched them grow , flourish and change into a Butterfly! The kids loved seeing the process and were excited to release them! This habitat was light, easy to carry, easy to clean and easy to store away when not in use.

Pros
  • Offers a unique, hands-on educational experience
Cons
  • The pop-up feature may become jammed or stuck, leading to difficulty in collapsing or storing the cage

Great toy for kid or adults

I'm 23 i bought this for myself. It was super fun to catch the caterpillars and watch them grow but also lowkey traumatizing and scary. Unfortunately the ones i picked up out in the yard were wildin as heck and there were episodes of death, cannibalism, and some gruesome post-crysalis fluids. Turns out, its really hard to watch a caterpillar get stuck in its crysalis and tear its wings apart trying to get out. Yeah i'd say this'll teach your kids about the circle of life. Super cool to see the…

Pros
  • Allows for the observation of caterpillar life cycles
Cons
  • The material may be difficult to clean thoroughly, leading to a high risk of infection or disease spread among insects or butterflies

This was fun! best in my review

I put a 24 inch plastic plant saucer in the bottom to make cleaning up poop easier. Just wipe up. I also used milkweed cuttings and poked them through a lidded plastic bowl so I did not have to worry about watering, which was a bonus because the root in water, and increased my plants. Everything worked well. Placed inside in a not drafty area away from a/c vent. Granddaughter loved it!

Pros
  • Perfect for backyard butterfly gardens, butterfly releases, or butterfly enthusiasts
Cons
  • The cage may become misshapen or uneven with extended use, leading to difficulty in storing or transporting

THE "PENTHOUSE " FOR YOUR BUTTERFLIES

I ordered the "Uncle Milton" butterfly habitat kit. Easy set-up, followed the directions, and when the butterflies emerged just this past week, I realized these little fellas needed more space. It arrived quickly (this afternoon). Easy set-up, . larger than I had anticipated. Excellent quality with no fumes some have mentioned in their reviews. the transfer was easy with the extra large zippered panel, I was able to insert the whole "Uncle Milton habitat" into this new unit. As I slowly pulled…

Pros
  • Provides a safe and protected environment for insects and butterflies to thrive and grow
Cons
  • The cage may attract pests or predators, including ants, spiders, or birds

Works great: my feedback

My first year raising Monarchs and this habitat was not only responsible in price but works great. While my 5 babies are now in their chrysalis awaiting their final transformation once released I can easily clean and pack this away for next season

Pros
  • Mesh sides provide ample ventilation for insects and butterflies
Cons
  • The material is not strong enough to withstand exposure to harsh chemicals or pesticides

Size matters! - my new review

#1 - when it arrived it was tightly folded and appeared VERY small. When we opened the package, it popped right up and wow! It's big enough to fit a decent sized Milkweed plant! Making our job that much easier. We've got the plants, now we need the babies! It comes with a little instruction booklet and guide for raising butterflies and instructions fo opening, closing the enclosure. We are anxious to get started and had ordered 2 to begin with. This was great!

Pros
  • Transparent sides allow you to take high-quality photos and videos of insects and butterflies
Cons
  • The cage may become too hot or cold with exposure to extreme weather or temperatures, leading to potential harm to insects or butterflies

Great net. for my opinion

Works great for raising Monarchs. Raised about 100 Monarchs in this net. Plenty big enough. Easy to view and easy access.

Pros
  • Includes a quick start guide manual to raise butterflies. The plants is not included.
Cons
  • The cage is too small for larger insects, such as dragonflies or beetles

Nice and inexpensive.

Easy to use, easy enough to clean, perfect for the hobby of helping the monarch butterfly fulfill its life cycle. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Perfect for observing insect and butterfly habitats up close and personal
Cons
  • The cage has a limited lifespan and may need to be replaced after only a few uses

Butterfly habitat: my feedback

Perfect habitat for keeping eggs, caterillars, chrysalis & butterflies safe during it's life cycle. I can even keep it outside.under the picnic table umbrella (so as to not get direct sun or rain. But fresh air)

Pros
  • Provides an excellent opportunity for people to connect with nature and the world around them
Cons
  • The cage may become bogged down with debris or dead insects, leading to an unsanitary or unpleasant living environment for those inside

Great little enclosure for caring for my caterpillar friends

Collapsible square enclosure is great for a couple caterpillars to eat while they prepare to become a butterfly!Seems pretty sturdy and well made for what it is. I will likely purchase the larger enclosure from the same seller for next year!

Pros
  • Zippered opening allows easy access for feeding, watering, and releasing insects and butterflies
Cons
  • The mesh is not fine enough to prevent the escape of small insects or larvae

Great for elementary school teachers

This cage works great for classrooms/teachers for raising caterpillars into butterflies. We placed a milkweed plant in it and the students could observe the changes over time. It's easy to open and water the plant.

Pros
  • Durable netting prevents insects and butterflies from escaping
Cons
  • The material may have an unpleasant odor, leading to an unsanitary living environment for insects or butterflies

Easy to use, great instruction booklet!

This was very easy to use, visability was very good, my grandkids loved it! I will use it again next year. The mesh openings are too large, allowing smaller insects to escape.

Pros
  • My sister in law is a crazy bug lady.. she loves these for her stick bugs and they are easy to mist
Cons
  • The mesh openings are too large, allowing smaller insects to escape
