Review on ๐Ÿฆ’ HABA Animal Upon Classic Stacking: A Whimsical and Educational Toy! by Kanwar Mix

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best kids games you can get.

Tier auf Tier is a German board game by HABA. I heard about it several times on the Dice Tower podcast and was intrigued. The game is extremely simple. This is a skill game where all the components are wooden figures of different animals like sheep, monkeys, penguins and porcupines. They stack these animals on top of a large wooden alligator. Try to see how high you can stack them before it all collapses. Whoever has a turn rolls a die. The results tell you to stack an animal or two yourself, ask other players to decide which of your animals to stack, give one of your animals to another player to stack, or place one of your animals next to the alligator to craft it the base of the pyramid longer. The first player to use up all their animals wins. The higher the stack gets, the harder the task of placing these pieces becomes, and it's very likely to tip over. Which is part of the fun. This also leads to one of my favorite rules of the game. When one of the stacks falls. The player who caused the collapse must return ONE of the animals and put the rest in the box. This is a great rule as it still penalizes the player, but not as much as having to take back all the animals. animals that have fallen. My oldest daughter really likes this game, it teaches patience, fine motor skills and problem solving. She had some pretty creative ideas on how to stack her animals. and I love watching her try. It's also fun when the stack goes down so she's still having a good time. The components of the game are really good. These are all large solid blocks of wood that are very easy to hold with small hands. They are also beautifully drawn and it is easy to tell what kind of animal they are. I highly recommend this game for young children. They are great to play with and a good solo activity as well.

Pros
  • Wobbly stacking game for 2-4 players, ages 4-99. As a real HABA classic made in Germany, this game will appeal to the whole family and will also be popular on adult game nights!
Cons
  • I don't like it that much, everything is fine
