I set up my new 18 gallon aquarium and almost immediately, against advice, put some fish in it. I initially used Tetra AquaSafe Plus for water treatment for a few days. I have also used these Pure Balls for beneficial bacteria and enzymes. So far, so good. My fish are thriving so this should all be doing its job. My reason for the review was basically to say how helpful Aqueon was when I messaged them online. I asked if the balls would eventually get small enough to be "sucked" into a vacuum, or if they would stay big. They are very difficult to see in an aquarium, but as you can see from the picture it is possible. They get smaller as they do their work. I got a call from Aqueon to explain this and that eventually they get small enough to be sucked into a vacuum, or pea sized when they're no longer useful. It is rare for a company to be contacted over the phone to discuss this. Thanks customer service. There should be more companies like this!
