I bought this for my 13 year old daughter as part of a Christmas present which will include a large watercolor palette, watercolor paper and brushes. She expressed interest in learning this technique and I thought it would be a great way to introduce her to watercolor! This is a great pre-stretched canvas with well spaced open areas that are easier to paint over a thinner watercolor medium. As others have pointed out, this "paint by numbers" differs from most others in that no numbers are printed on the canvas and the artist must refer to a separate sheet of paper for where to place the suggested colors. This is not a design flaw. Realize that this is a necessary design for watercolor. Watercolor is a pure color wash, no thick pigments like acrylic or oil. If the numbers were pre-printed on the canvas, the watercolor would not cover the numbers and they would still be visible in the finished product! I am happy with this set, although I wish the colors were numbered I suspect my daughter will not take the advice and go mad anyway! All in all, a great introduction to watercolor painting! It's easy and has everything you need except water! Color, hang up and enjoy!
