I bought an Impecca DVHP9117 DVD player for one reason: I needed to play UK DVDs (Region 2, European discs in PAL format) on my US (NTSC) home TV. For that purpose, this little player is the absolute best buy. It automatically recognizes and plays NTSC and PAL format discs and can output NTSC and PAL signals to TV. (It defaults to NTSC output, so no setup is needed for US users.) It's also a "Region 0" player, meaning it can play discs from anywhere in the world, even if they're encoded for it are only use for certain areas. I've been using my Impecca player for a year now. The Impecca is a small and light box, but the electronics and mechanics have survived the much more expensive Sony and LG players that preceded it. If you're still concerned about durability, Revain offers very affordable extended warranty plans. Product support is excellent. After the purchase, I asked Impecca Customer Service a specific question about the regional support mentioned above. The support rep gave me a very honest "I don't know" answer, but within 24 hours I received an email from one of their technicians who answered my question. I agree with other reviews that the remote control is small and oddly configured meaning I had to wear reading glasses to use it. But my solution was to rummage through my litter box for an old programmable universal remote - the kind where you point the Impecca remote at the universal remote and then press "learn" on the universal remote to program the buttons. (The "universal" remote actually came from an old, broken Samsung TV.) After everything was installed, the Impecca remote went into the drawer. This is a solid DVD player with some very useful extra features at a great price. If Impecca only releases a Blu-ray version now, I'll be ready to buy!
