When the device is plugged in and switched on, you may hear a faint noise from the rectifier if you hold it to your ear. I didn't have an oscilloscope handy, so I hooked up a set of powered speakers and set the gain to maximum - I hear normal hum and hiss when I plug it into a wall outlet, so the signal seems clean enough. The fan only runs under load/temperature, which is nice. Started a 300w heat gun with no problems (until I blew a 240w fuse in my car, oops). It was bought to run a CPAP/APAP machine that ran all weekend with no problems.
