I decided to try them to compare them to the plastic strip snake which is usually a simpler but more effective tool. The curved brush allows for more efficient cleaning of the inside of downspouts, but I've found a few downsides. The first is that these pipe brushes are too short. The ones I received measure 44 cm / 17.3 inches (1 cm / 3/8 inches shorter than the description). In addition, with a handle length of around 4 inches, you really only have 13 inches of usable length to work with. Depending on your lines, this may not be enough to get to the clog as they usually start around a bend. Compared to the plastic strips (shown in my photos), these twisted brushes are almost 4-1/2 inches smaller. In other situations, such as A bathtub or kitchen sink, for example, they will probably suffice, but I have found that the holes in the drain cover are small, they will be difficult to fit through and difficult to maneuver through the pipe. Twisted metal wires just don't bend as easily and are difficult to bend. They grab some material, but in many cases, hair is one of the main culprits of blockages in some cases. I'm sure I'll find other uses for these pipe cleaners, but for pipe cleaning I use a simple, reliable AND longer plastic strip tool. 3 stars is the best I can rate. provided it is durable and could have other uses.
