I love the retro look. I first bought the NESPI4 kit which came with the gray cartridge but I also wanted the gold cartridge. When I saw this setup I knew I had to get it. All you have to do is insert your own 2.5" SSD into the cartridge, rotate the cartridge, insert the cartridge into the case and connect the case to the PC with the cable provided. Once you've formatted and set up your drive, you're good to go. I am using a Samsung 500GB 2.5 SSD and it fits the cartridge perfectly. The fact that the enclosure is a SATA to USB adapter makes it very convenient to read/write to the SSD in each cartridge.
